Supporting a community that creates

Community engagement, fan creativity and player participation across a run of major launches.

Role
Community engagement and launch communications
Period
18 game launches

Context

Bethesda's players don't just play. They make things: art, mods, videos, writing. That creativity is a large part of why the community lasts between releases.

The work

I supported community activity and launch communications across 18 game launches.

That included programmes involving more than 25,000 pieces of fan-created content. The creativity was the community's; my job was to give it structure, visibility and recognition through official channels.

What this taught me

Recognising fan creativity isn't a nice extra. It's one of the clearest signals a company can send that it's paying attention.

Recognition is one of the clearest signals that a company is paying attention.
